Cafés in Taiwan that welcome long stays advertise it with 不限時 (bù xiànshí, no time limit), often next to 插座 (chāzuò, power outlets) and Wi-Fi.1 The words matter because limits exist: a 2025 TVBS ranking of no-time-limit cafés, compiled in Taipei, still found one chain that allowed unlimited stays on weekdays but capped weekends at two hours.1
In Kaohsiung, Sanmin has the most cafés with Wi-Fi, with Cianjin & Sinsing and Lingya next. New ones keep arriving: in the year to May 2024, coffee shops opened in Taiwan at about 25 a month.4
Local tip: If you need power as well as Wi-Fi, look for 插座 next to 不限時 on a café's sign or social page; where a limit applies, it is often two hours at weekends.1
Where these cafés are: Sanmin & Main Station (8), Cianjin & Sinsing (6), Lingya (6), Cianjhen & Asia New Bay (3), Fengshan (2), Yancheng & Pier-2 (2), Museum of Fine Arts & Neiwei (1), Hamasen & Sizihwan (1).

The Kaohsiung Main Public Library (高雄市立圖書館總館) opened in November 2014 on Xinguang Road, across from the Tuntex Sky Tower in the Asia New Bay Area.3 Its eight floors, 38,000 m² in all, have no interior columns, and the top floor holds a subtropical garden.3 It replaced the main library on Minsheng Road, which had opened in 1981.3

不限時 (bù xiànshí) means no time limit: you can stay as long as you like. Cafés that welcome laptop users often list it next to 插座 (power outlets) and Wi-Fi. Some Taiwanese cafés allow unlimited stays only on weekdays and cap weekend visits at two hours, so check before settling in.
