Kimihurura is a sector of Gasabo District covering 5.1 km², with 16,425 residents at the 2022 census and three cells: Kamukina, Kimihurura and Rugando; the population was 21,672 in 2012. Kigali Centenary Park and several shopping centers lie just to the west.1 The ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, Infrastructure and Justice are based here, and the Chamber of Deputies stands in the northeast near Kamukina.1
For coffee, Kimihurura has Rubia Coffee Roasters on KG 2 Ave, and the KG 600-numbered streets nearby hold Kivu Noir's flagship café and a second Indabo garden.23 Living in Kigali calls the sector the city's social hub, with cafés, gyms, co-working spaces and nightlife within walking distance of serviced apartments.4

The Convention Centre roundabout
Kigali Convention Centre stands on the KN 5 highway beside the KG 2 Roundabout, about 6 km west of Kigali International Airport. Built from 2009 to 2016 for about US$300 million, it seats 2,600 and hosted the 2016 African Union Summit and the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting; the building changes color at night.5 The 292-room Radisson Blu Hotel Kigali is part of the complex.5
Since December 2019 the car park has held the Anti-Corruption Monument, a 12-meter sculpture of a human hand by the Iraqi artist Ahmed Al-Bahrani.1 The Campaign Against Genocide Museum is a few hundred meters from the Chamber of Deputies.1 It is housed in the Parliament building, which held 600 Rwanda Patriotic Army soldiers from December 1993 into 1994, and explains how the RPA planned and fought its campaign to stop the genocide.6
Rubia on KG 2 Ave
Founder Mathias Kalisa started Rubia Coffee Roasters in 2018, and in February 2026 it became the first Rwandan café on The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list, at 54th.7 The café sits around a courtyard, with bookshelves and portraits inside and jazz playing; the espresso has citrus notes, and salads cover the food side.2
El Vista Café is on the same avenue at 9 KG 2 Av, about 200 m from Rubia, and Bwok, a bakery café open Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 20:00, is under a kilometer to the northwest.
Kivu Noir and Indabo on the KG 600s
Kivu Noir's flagship, at 2 KG 668 St, has a spacious, modern dining room, an outdoor green space, a cocktail bar and a cupping lab; brunch runs by day, and its sister restaurant ruӓ serves tapas and dinner in the evening.2
Indabo's Kimihurura branch, at 11 KG 670 St, shares its compound with a dog park and an interior design boutique.32 Its kitchen leans Western and Mediterranean, with vegetarian dishes, cocktails and both black and milk coffee drinks.2
