Buses run through Remera on many routes, and motos (motorcycle taxis) and car taxis work day and night. The roads from Remera and Kisimenti lead on to Kimironko, Nyarutarama, Kabeza and Kicukiro, and east toward the Eastern Province.2

Amahoro means "peace" in Kinyarwanda, and the stadium is the home ground of the Rwanda national football team. A renovation and expansion between 2022 and 2024 raised its capacity to 45,508 seats.4

In 1994 the stadium served as the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping mission, UNAMIR, and during the genocide it became a UN-protected site sheltering up to 12,000 refugees, mainly Tutsi.4

Kimironko Market and its milk bar

Kimironko Market, a short bus or moto ride from Remera, fills a warehouse with a roof about 9 m (30 ft) high.25 Stalls sell bananas, eggs, dried fish and local produce, and tailors in the clothing section sew kitenge, the wax-printed East African fabric, to order. Vendors generally work from 08:00 until just before 20:00.5

A milk zone faces the market entrance, so a glass of fresh or fermented milk is an easy stop between the produce hall and a coffee.6
