Subiaco, "Subi" to locals, is an inner-western suburb about 3 km from the CBD. It takes its name from the Benedictine Monastery of New Subiaco, which was named after Subiaco in Italy.1 Rokeby Road is the main street and commercial center, Hay Street is the second shopping spine, and Kings Park begins directly to the east.1
Outdoor tables are common here: nearly a third of Subiaco's cafés have them, and most open on Sundays as well. Rokeby Road has the densest run, from Brew Ha: The Ritual at 162 to Boucla Cafe at 345, with Little Rokeby, Sorganic and Plane Tree Farm side by side between 269 and 275.
Local tip: Go on a Saturday morning: the Subi Farmers Market on Bagot Road runs 08:00–12:00, and Brew Ha: The Ritual on Rokeby Road opens at 06:30 and serves until 15:30 that day.

Getting to Subiaco
Trains on the Fremantle line stop at Subiaco station, which moved underground in December 1998, when the line was put into a cut-and-cover tunnel as part of the Subi Centro redevelopment.1 It is the third-busiest station on the line, after Perth and Fremantle.1 Moss Black Cafe at 24 Cardigan Terrace opens 07:00–14:00 on weekdays and has Wi-Fi.
The oval, the Regal and the Saturday market
Subiaco Oval, once the largest stadium in Western Australia, closed in 2017, replaced by the new Perth Stadium in Burswood, and its grandstands were demolished between July and November 2019.2 The playing surface survived and reopened to the public in June 2020 next to Bob Hawke College, which had opened that February; the heritage-listed Gate 19 entrance still stands.2
The Regal Theatre at 474 Hay Street opened on 27 April 1938 as an Art Deco cinema and later turned to live performance; it has been on the state heritage register since 1995.3 On Saturdays the Subi Farmers Market runs 08:00–12:00 in the grounds of Subiaco Primary School at 271 Bagot Road, with coffee among the produce stalls.4
Rokeby Road and the side streets
Brew Ha: The Ritual at 162 Rokeby Road opens at 06:30 every day and stays open until 15:30 on Thursdays and Saturdays. Little Rokeby at 269 Rokeby Road runs daily 07:00–14:00. Off the main street, Bishop St Cafe & Kitchen at 37 Bishop Street opens at 07:30 at weekends, and Mimosa at 1 Forrest Street serves until 16:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Wi-Fi is easier to find here than in most suburbs: Brew Ha, La Maison Des Eclairs, Louis Baxters and Moss Black all offer it. On Hay Street, Jitters on Hay is at 200 and Obi Coffee at 500. For an evening drink, Cantina at 6 Forrest Walk opens from 12:00 to midnight Tuesday to Friday and from 16:00 on Saturday.
Of the daytime cafés, La Maison Des Eclairs at 27 Railway Road closes latest, at 17:30 from Wednesday to Sunday; it is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Kings Park next door
Kings Park covers 400.6 ha of Mount Eliza above the city. It was set aside in 1831, opened as Perth Park on 10 August 1895 and renamed in 1901, and it draws more than five million visitors a year.5 Its Western Australian Botanic Garden opened on 4 October 1965, and Zamia Café stands near the May Drive Parkland.5
Subiaco is slightly cheaper than the city as a whole. In October 2026 its average small flat white was A$5.02, against A$5.12 for Perth, and most cafés charged A$4.50–6.00.6
