Marrakech's main square does its biggest business after dark: dozens of food stalls go up on Jemaa el-Fna in the evening, and that is when the crowd reaches its peak.1 Snake charmers leave in the late afternoon, when magicians, storytellers and sellers of traditional medicine take their places.1 Café hours follow the square. The commonest closing time among the late cafés is 23:00, a few go on until midnight, and one on the Essaouira road never closes.
Most of them are in the old city, on and around Jemaa el-Fna, with two more in the Kasbah, where Kasbah Café's terrace faces the Saadian Tombs until 23:00.2 Outside the walls, the late hours are in Hivernage, Semlalia and on the roads leading out of town.
Local tip: Eat at the Jemaa el-Fna food stalls, then walk up to Café des Épices on Rahba Kedima for a last mint tea on its roof; it serves until 23:00.
Where these cafés are: Medina & Jemaa el-Fna (4), Kasbah & Mellah (2), Majorelle & Semlalia (2), Mouassine & Bab Doukkala (1), Massira & Targa (1), Hivernage & Menara (1), Daoudiate & the north (1).

Until 23:00 around Jemaa el-Fna
Café de France opens at 07:00 and closes at 23:00, so the same terrace covers breakfast, sunset and the food stalls. Café des Épices, on Rahba Kedima, serves from 09:00 to 23:00. In winter the sun sets over the square at about 17:30–18:00, which leaves five hours of evening on the terraces; in summer it sets at about 19:30–20:00.3
Fine Mama, at 89 Passage Prince Moulay Rachid, runs 09:00–00:00, an hour past the terraces. Mandala Society on Rue Riad Zitoun El Jedid closes at 22:30, and Jijo Mazel on Rue Fatima Zahra at 22:00.
The Kasbah after dark
Kasbah Café, at No. 47 Boutouil, serves dinner and juices on its panoramic terrace opposite the Saadian Tombs until 23:00, starting from 08:00, and takes table bookings by phone or WhatsApp.2 Boughaz Coffee, nearby, has outdoor tables from 07:00 to 23:00.
Cafe Clock, at 224 Derb Chtouka, puts on live music every night of the week, as it does at each of its cafés.4
Midnight and later outside the walls
In Hivernage, News on Rue Abou Bakr Seddik opens 08:00–00:00 with Wi-Fi, and in Semlalia, Showtime coffee Shop on Boulevard Al Mouzdalifa runs 07:00–23:00. Cafe Jardin, in the north of the city, also stays open until midnight.
L'empreinte, on Avenue Essaouira, is open 24 hours, with Wi-Fi and outdoor seats. In Guéliz, Le Grand Café de la Poste, a café since the 1920s, keeps 09:00–01:00 and has live jazz evenings.5
Taxis and Ramadan nights
Petit taxi fares rise by 50% at night: from 20:00 to 06:00 between October and April, and from 21:00 to 05:00 between May and September.6 Uber has operated in Marrakech since February 2026, with a 50 DH minimum fare in town.7 At the railway station, some taxi drivers refuse to run the meter and ask for at least 50 DH, so agree on the fare before you get in.7
During Ramadan, which ran from 19 February to 20 March in 2026, shops that shut at 16:00 or 17:00 mostly reopened after the fast was broken, from 20:00 to 23:00.8
