Miraflores lies south of Lima's historic center, with the Pacific Ocean as its western boundary.1 It became a district on 2 January 1857, under President Ramón Castilla, and had 116,526 residents in 2023.1 Its middle is Parque Central de Miraflores, known to everyone as Parque Kennedy, bounded by Avenida Larco to the east, Avenida Diagonal to the west and Calle Schell to the south.2

Miraflores is Lima's busiest café district, and its cafés crowd close to the park: close to half are within 500 m of it, and nearly three in four within a kilometer. The range is wide. Manolo has sold churros on Avenida Larco since 1968, while in October 2025 Puku Puku placed ninth and Neira Café Lab 25th in the South American edition of The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops.34

Local tip: For a quiet table near Parque Kennedy, go before 08:00: Puku Puku on Narciso de la Colina opens at 07:00 Monday to Saturday, and Milimétrica on Alcanfores at 07:30.

Getting around Miraflores on foot

The Metropolitano busway, in paid service since July 2010, stops at Benavides station in Miraflores.5 After that, the café streets are close together. Calle Alcanfores runs parallel to Avenida Larco a block to the east, Calle Berlín starts just south-west of the park, and Calle Narciso de la Colina is about 400 m to the north-east. Neira Café Lab, on Calle Enrique Palacios, is the outlier, about 1.2 km north-west of the park.

Parque Kennedy itself is run by the municipality and open 24 hours.2 Residents began leaving cats there in the 1990s to keep down the rats, and the cats now draw visitors of their own.2 The Iglesia Matriz Virgen Milagrosa, built in 1939, anchored the growth of the streets around the park.2

Huaca Pucllana, older than any café

Miraflores keeps one pre-Hispanic site: Huaca Pucllana, a large pyramid of adobe and clay built in seven staggered platforms.16 It was raised by the Lima culture, which developed on the central coast between 200 and 700 AD, and the site also holds later remains of the Wari culture.6 The walled enclosure around it is more than 500 m long and 22 m high.6

Avenida Larco's older cafés

Avenida Larco, running south from the park, has more cafés than any other street in Miraflores. Two go back decades. La Favorita, on the stretch beside the park, was run by two brothers from 1973 and was known for strong coffee.7 Manolo, at number 608, opened in 1968 and is known for churros with chocolate.3

Manolo is also the late option on Larco: it opens at 07:15 on weekdays and 08:15 at weekends, and closes at 01:00. Further down are News Cafe Coffee Shop at 651, La Parada at 788 and a Puku Puku at 1285, open Monday to Saturday 07:00–19:00. Only Cafe cafe, on Calle José Olaya beside the park, stays open later, until 03:00 every day.

Specialty coffee off Avenida Larco

Arabica, at Calle Recavarren 269, was opened in 2008 by Hannah Scranton and David Torres Bisetti; in 2015 a small red door marked the entrance.7 It now serves Monday to Saturday 08:00–22:00 and Sunday from 14:00. True Artisan Cafe is at Calle Bolívar 153; in 2015 its owner was Gianni Zanesco, who had started out importing La Marzocco espresso machines.7

Milimétrica Coffee Co, at Calle Alcanfores 215, has its roastery behind the café.8 It opens Monday to Saturday 07:30–20:00 and Sunday 09:00–16:00. On Calle Libertad, Origen Tostadores de Café at number 430 is a few doors from a Puku Puku at 401 and Barra Botánica at 439. Another Puku Puku, on Narciso de la Colina 297, opens at 07:00 Monday to Saturday.

Neira Café Lab, at Calle Enrique Palacios 1074, opens at 07:00 on weekdays, 08:00 on Saturday and 09:00 on Sunday. Café de Lima, on Avenida Angamos Oeste 1003, opens at 07:00 every day.
