Rosedale lies between Shoal Creek and Lamar Boulevard, from 38th Street north to North Loop Boulevard and Hancock Drive. It was farm and dairy land from the 1860s; four florists and nurseries worked there in the 1900s, and much of what they planted still grows. Many of its more than 1,200 homes date from the 1930s and 1940s.1

Ramsey Park, in the middle of the neighborhood, has a swimming pool, tennis courts and a baseball diamond, and the Chili's at 45th and Lamar, Rosedale's easternmost point, has been an internet meme since at least 2011.1 Most cafés here line Burnet Road between the 4400 and 6700 blocks, and a second group sits on West 35th Street and Jefferson Street to the south.

Burnet Road

Monkey Nest at 5353 Burnet Road has been open since 2011. It brews organic, locally roasted coffee, makes its own tacos and bakes scones in-house.2 It opens 07:00–18:00 from Monday to Saturday and 08:00–18:00 on Sunday.

Cheri Coffee and Flowers at 6726 Burnet is a small, family-owned walk-up shop that sells coffee and seasonal, locally grown flowers. On its 2026 menu a cortado costs US$4.00, a cappuccino US$4.50 and a cold brew US$5.00. It opens 07:30–19:00 from Wednesday to Saturday and 07:30–15:00 on Sunday and Monday, and closes on Tuesday.3

Picnik's flagship at 4801 Burnet serves butter coffee and bone broth; grab-and-go opens daily at 07:00 and the dining room 09:00–20:00. The kitchen cooks only with cold-pressed avocado oil and extra virgin olive oil, and seating is walk-in except for groups of eight or more.4 Upper Crust Bakery is at 4508, Stinson's at 4416, Pacha at 4622, Neighbor Coffee and Friends at 5000 and Dog Day Coffee at 6701.

Épicerie on Hancock Drive

Sarah McIntosh opened Épicerie at 2307 Hancock Drive in 2012 as a café and grocery in one; the French name roughly means “grocer's shop”. It has since become a bistro, bar and boulangerie with French-Louisiana cooking, after a pastry program and a bar program began in 2020.5

It opens 10:00–21:00 on Monday and from Wednesday to Friday, 09:00–21:00 on Saturday and 09:00–15:00 on Sunday, and closes on Tuesday; there is a covered patio.5 Russell's Bakery is down the road at 3339 Hancock Drive.

35th Street, Jefferson and the hospital district

Lone Man Coffee at 3111 West 35th Street and Fara Coffee at 3724 Jefferson Street are specialty bars, and Tiny's Milk & Cookies is at 1515 West 35th. Teo's Gelato and Espresso is at 1206 West 38th Street and 34th St Cafe at 1015 West 34th.
