Phú Nhuận sits on the route from the center to the airport, a position that has filled it with office towers and apartment projects, and some consider it the geographic center of the city.1 On 1 July 2025 the district was dissolved into three wards: Phú Nhuận, Cầu Kiệu and Đức Nhuận.1

Its cafés follow two lines: Phan Xích Long, the food street on the eastern side, and Trường Sa, the canal road along the southern edge. Between them run residential lanes named after flowers, among them Hoa Lan (orchid) and Hoa Cau (areca blossom), and further west the 24-hour cafés of Huỳnh Văn Bánh and Nguyễn Trọng Tuyển.

Local tip: Save Phan Xích Long for the evening food street and start the morning on the canal instead: Cà Nhà at 560 Trường Sa opens at 06:00.

Phan Xích Long food street

Phú Nhuận opened Phan Xích Long as a food street on the evening of 26 January 2024. It covers Phan Xích Long where the road leads into the Rạch Miễu residential area, plus every side street in the old wards 1, 2 and 7.3 Those three wards, with part of ward 15, now form Cầu Kiệu ward, so the whole food street lies inside it.2

Cafés line the strip. Cà Phê Đô Hội at 65 Phan Xích Long is open 24 hours, Cà Phê Bud's is at 176 and Cà Phê Sorriso at 438A. Off the main road, Cafe Lafam at 199 Hoa Lan opens 07:00–22:30, and Chidori - Coffee in Bed at 06 Cầu Kiệu Hoa Cau stays open to 23:00.

Along the canal on Trường Sa

The Nhiêu Lộc–Thị Nghè canal forms Cầu Kiệu's southern edge.2 Rebuilt between 2002 and 2012, it has a road on each bank, Trường Sa on one side and Hoàng Sa on the other.4

Phú Nhuận's canal cafés are on Trường Sa. Cà Nhà - Viet Nam Specialty Coffee at 560 opens at 06:00, Cà Phê - Trà Early Morning is at 386-388, and Kofuku Coffee at 1162 opens 07:00–22:00. Just back from the water, Chanchamayo Coffee at 1 Ngô Thời Nhiệm opens 10:00–22:00, and Cà phê Hà Nội in Hẻm 11 Đào Duy Từ opens Monday to Saturday, 08:00–20:00.

Late coffee off Nhiêu Tứ

Behind Phan Xích Long, the lanes off Nhiêu Tứ keep long hours. Hannah's Kitchen VN, in Hẻm 53, opens 06:00–23:30, Nus Coffee & Tea at 53/9 Nhiêu Tứ runs 07:00–22:00, and Thành Coffee at 1 Nhiêu Tứ closes at midnight. The22 Coffee is round the corner at 22 Hoa Cau.

The airport side and cloth-filter coffee

Toward Lê Văn Sỹ and Nguyễn Trọng Tuyển, on the airport side, Cà Phê Nguyên Chất at 417 Huỳnh Văn Bánh and HÀ - Acoustic Coffee at 178A Nguyễn Trọng Tuyển are both open 24 hours. Tiệm Cà Phê Biil - Chợ, in an alley off Trần Hữu Trang, opens at 06:00, and Tĩnh Books and Coffee, in Hẻm 182 Lê Văn Sỹ, at 08:00.

Phú Nhuận also keeps one of the city's long-running cà phê vợt (cloth-filter coffee) shops, in a small alley off Phan Đình Phùng.5 Tiền Phong, reporting on young Saigonese taking up the old brew in May 2025, put a cup at 15,000–20,000₫.5
