Open by 06:00, for the hour when the Old Town still belongs to the people who live there.
Hội An gets light early. In mid-June 2026 the sun rose at 05:14, and even in mid-December it was up by 06:05.1 A café that opens at 06:00 catches the town before the heat and before the day visitors, who in 2023 numbered 2,000–5,000 on a weekday in the Old Town and close to 10,000 a day at weekends.8
Most cafés that open by 06:00 are in the Old Town, largely on Trần Hưng Đạo. The others are in An Hội across the river and on Lê Hồng Phong, about 1.5 km north of the old center.
Local tip: In December the sun isn't up until about 06:05, so a 06:00 coffee on Trần Hưng Đạo starts in the dark; in June it's broad daylight by then.
Where these cafés are: Old Town (7), Around town (2), An Hội (1).

From May to August average highs reach 33–34°C, and July and August are the hottest months.4 In those months an outdoor table is worth taking before the sun clears the rooftops.
Early is also when the Old Town is emptiest of tour groups. The pedestrian-only hours begin at 09:00, so before then the lanes are open to motorbikes, but the crowds that fill them from mid-morning have not yet arrived.28
Trần Hưng Đạo, the street along the northern edge of the Old Town, has the densest cluster of early openers. Cafe Thiện Trung at no. 84, The Curve Cafe at no. 98 and Café Tin at 131/12 are open 24 hours, and Cà phê Nhà Nguyên opens at 06:00 and closes at 17:00.
Two cafés named Street Café on Trần Phú open at 06:00, one of them selling cà phê muối (salt coffee) and closing at 16:00. Across the river in An Hội, 11 coffee house at 17 Nguyễn Phúc Chu is open around the clock. North of the center, Bao's coffee place at 72B Lê Hồng Phong opens 06:00–20:00 and Bonte café at no. 99 opens 06:00–21:00, with outdoor tables.
Sunrise is the time for a wooden-boat trip to the fish market, where you can watch the night's catch come in; mornings at the beach are quiet too.3 Pair either with a 06:00 coffee and you are back in town before the pedestrian hours start at 09:00.2
Seasonal light matters if you want photographs. On 23 October 2026 the sun rose at 05:40, and civil twilight began at 05:18, so a coffee at 05:30 is drunk in the half-light.1
Bánh mì is Hội An's breakfast as much as its lunch: a baguette with pâté, pickled and fresh vegetables, butter, chili sauce and a filling such as grilled meat or fried egg.6 A street-stall bánh mì costs 20,000–35,000₫ as of 2026.5
A plain local coffee in the Old Town was about 20,000₫ as of late 2025, so breakfast and coffee together come in under 60,000₫ at a stall and a neighborhood café.75 The early cafés on Trần Hưng Đạo are a short walk from the Central Market, where stalls serve breakfast.5
