This is the part of Nha Trang most visitors see first: the Trần Phú avenue along the main beach and the blocks a few streets inland.1 On the inland side of Trần Phú, between Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai and the old airport, sit most of the city's Western-style bars, cafés and tour agencies.1 The grid behind, around Hùng Vương, Biệt Thự and Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, is what the Vietnamese press calls the phố Tây (Western quarter).2

The beachfront grid has more cafés than any other part of the city, from a rooftop that never closes to a bakery that shuts at 15:30, with smoothie shops, an egg-coffee café and one café whose name is written in Cyrillic.

Local tip: Vietnamese visitors crowd the beach at sunrise and sunset.1 For a coffee before a sunrise swim, Mây Rooftop Coffee on Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai is open around the clock, and Bean House Coffee on Biệt Thự opens at 06:00.

Getting to the beachfront and around it

Nha Trang station is about 1.5 km from the beach, roughly a 20-minute walk, and a Grab from the station to the beach area costs about 30,000–50,000₫ as of 2026.3 City bus 4 picks up on Nguyễn Thiện Thuật and links the tourist quarter with the cathedral, Chợ Đầm market and Po Nagar.1 Grab runs both cars and motorbike taxis here, and its fares are often more transparent than those of street taxis.1

Addresses on these streets still say Lộc Thọ or Tân Lập. Tân Lập was folded into Tân Tiến ward in November 2024, and both Lộc Thọ and Tân Tiến became part of the new Nha Trang ward in 2025.45

The phố Tây and its Russian regulars

By 2008 the old Quân Trấn quarter, from Hùng Vương through Trần Quang Khải to Nguyễn Thiện Thuật and Biệt Thự, was lined with restaurants and bars, many of them run by foreigners who had settled in Nha Trang.2 Russians have long made up a large share of foreign visitors, and in this part of town Russian signs are more common than English ones.1

They are back in numbers. By September 2025 about 30 flights a week linked Russian cities with Cam Ranh airport, and many Russian visitors stay 15 to 30 days.6 In July 2026 the ward government said it would step up enforcement against shop signs on Hùng Vương, Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, Tô Hiến Thành, Võ Trứ and Trần Quang Khải written only in Russian, Korean or English; a 2026 decree sets fines of 10–15 million₫ for signs without the business name in Vietnamese.7

Where the beachfront cafés are

Nguyễn Thiện Thuật has the longest run: Iced Coffe at no. 49, RED GATE BAKERY CAFÉ down alley 120/3, Mango bull bull at 140 and Money at 300. On Hùng Vương, Cafe Asia is down alley 24/48 and Mango at 3G, and Bean House Coffee sits at 31E Biệt Thự. The Cyrillic name belongs to Три Сестры, Russian for "three sisters".

On the beach road itself, F4M Sinh To is at 64 Trần Phú, the alley known for its budget mini-hotels.1 Egg Coffee cafe at 67 Trịnh Phong serves cà phê trứng, the Hanoi drink of robusta under egg yolk beaten with sugar and condensed milk.8 Further north, toward Lê Thánh Tôn, are IVORY COFFEE SHOP and FA Cafe on Trần Nguyên Hãn, Chakokoro at 24A Trần Bình Trọng, Monet at 29 Tô Hiến Thành and Tous Les Temps Coffee & Tea at 09 Lê Thánh Tôn.

Hours and seasons on the beachfront

Mây Rooftop Coffee at 64 Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai is open 24 hours, and Hoan nguyen quan 2 runs 06:00–00:00. Bean House Coffee also opens at 06:00. Evenings are well covered: Cafe Asia, Egg Coffee cafe, Money, Nôm Nôm, Red Brick Bakery & Coffee and Tous Les Temps serve until 22:00, and T&R, down an alley off Tuệ Tĩnh, until 23:00.

The early closers are the bakery and the small rooms. RED GATE shuts at 15:30 and IVORY at 19:00, and both are closed on Mondays; Три Сестры keeps 10:00–18:00. From October to mid-December the monsoon brings rain and strong winds off the sea.1
