North of the Cái river, Vĩnh Hải, Vĩnh Phước, Vĩnh Hòa and Vĩnh Thọ were separate wards until 2025, when they were merged with two communes into Bắc Nha Trang ward, about 97 km² with some 128,000 residents in 2024.1 The area holds Po Nagar, the Cham temple at the river mouth, and Hòn Chồng, a stack of rocks on the shore with Cô Tiên mountain behind.23

The cafés cluster in Vĩnh Hải, most within about a kilometer of each other, and most stay open until 22:00 or later.

Po Nagar at the mouth of the Cái

The Po Nagar towers stand on a small hill by the mouth of the Cái river, 10–12 m above the sea and about 3 km from the center, at 61 Hai Tháng Tư street.2 The temple was founded before 781 for Yan Po Nagar, "the goddess of the country", and its main tower is about 25 m high.4

As of 2026 entry costs 30,000₫, and the site opens 06:00–17:30.2 Dress modestly to enter the main tower to burn incense; a robe can be borrowed there if needed.2

Hòn Chồng and Cô Tiên mountain

Hòn Chồng lies in Vĩnh Phước, about 3 km north-east of the center.3 It is a natural pile of rocks: a large squared block resting on a wider slab, with a hollow shaped like a giant handprint on the side facing the sea.5 One legend credits a giant who braced his hand on the rock while hauling in a huge fish.5 The beach below is quiet, with clear water and small waves.3

From the rocks you see Cô Tiên, three peaks of about 300–400 m.36 To climb it, follow Phạm Văn Đồng past Hòn Chồng beach and turn left onto Ngô Văn Sở, where shops keep motorbikes for about 10,000₫ as of 2026. The first peak takes 45 minutes to an hour, all three about 3 to 4 hours there and back.6

The Vĩnh Hải café blocks

Tous Les Temps is a Nha Trang tea-and-coffee name with branches on Võ Trứ and 19/5 street too, and its menu runs to peach lemon tea, milk tea, yogurt and blended drinks.7

Toward the coast, Sinh Tố Thiên Nhiên in Vĩnh Phước is a smoothie shop that also serves brunch. Cô tiên lữ quán, at 2 Cô Tiên, has outdoor tables and Wi-Fi, and Nora Coffee has an air-conditioned room as well as seats outside. City bus 4 links the tourist quarter with Chợ Đầm, Po Nagar and Hòn Chồng.8

Hours north of the river

ĐẮK Coffee & Tea and Sinh Tố Thiên Nhiên both open at 06:00, and LÈNG follows at 06:30. Sinh Tố Thiên Nhiên also closes latest, at 23:00, with Tous Les Temps at 22:30 and Inner, LÈNG and ĐẮK at 22:00. Jumanji is the exception, open 08:00–18:00. Bãi Dương, the north beach, draws mostly Vietnamese visitors.8
