The Dreta de l'Eixample, the right side of the grid, is one of the Eixample's six barris.1 Its spine is the Passeig de Gràcia, 1.3 km from Plaça de Catalunya to Carrer Gran de Gràcia, which began as the Camí de Jesús, a country lane to the separate town of Gràcia.
The avenue holds the best-known Modernista houses: Casa Amatller, Casa Batlló and Casa Lleó Morera on a single block, and Gaudí's Casa Milà, La Pedrera, built 1905–1910.2 Most cafés are a block or more off the avenue, on Carrer de Bailèn, Provença, Pau Claris and the Passeig de Sant Joan.
Local tip: Café Zurich opens at 08:00 every day; for an earlier coffee near Plaça de Catalunya, Florida on Carrer de Balmes opens at 06:30.

A first plan to urbanize the Passeig in 1821 was dropped during epidemics and revived in 1824; by 1827 it was 42 m wide and a promenade for riders and carriages. In 1906 Pere Falqués designed its benches and street lamps, and in 2010 a property ranking named it the most expensive street in Spain.2
Passeig de Gràcia station links three metro lines and the Rodalies trains. The L2 platforms are under Gran Via, L3 under the avenue between Consell de Cent and Aragó, and L4 between Gran Via and Diputació; the train platforms are under Carrer d'Aragó, served by R2 and several regional lines.3 Diagonal station is at the top of the avenue.2
Café Zurich holds the corner of Carrer de Pelai and Plaça de Catalunya. Andreu Valldeperas bought the premises in 1920 for 50,000 pesetas; during the Civil War the building served as a Republican army trench, yet the café stayed open, and his grandson said it had never had to close before the 2020 pandemic.4
It opens at 08:00 daily and closes at 21:00 from Monday to Thursday and 22:00 from Friday to Sunday, with tables outside on the square.
Terrace fees in Barcelona depend on the street's category and the number of tables. For 2024, the city fee for a single table on Passeig de Gràcia was €604.16, against €26.65 on Carrer del Perú in Sant Martí, and eight tables on Rambla de Catalunya cost €4,975.5
In 2022 the city also refused to keep pandemic-era terrace expansions on Rambla de Catalunya and the Passeig de Sant Joan, two of six Eixample zones where the extra tables had to go. The Eixample as a whole holds about 30% of the city's restaurant and bar premises.6
The side streets are where the bakeries are. Forn de pa Boldú has shops at Carrer del Rosselló 253 and Carrer de Provença 233, Forn Verdaguer is at Passeig de Sant Joan 111, Forn Gòtic at Carrer de Pau Claris 117 and Praktik Bakery at Carrer de Provença 279. Granja Vendrell, at Carrer de Girona 59, serves specialty coffee.
Florida, at Carrer de Balmes 4, opens at 06:30 and stays open until midnight from Tuesday to Sunday. Tincset i més, at Carrer del Consell de Cent 439, starts at 06:45. La Esquina, at Carrer de Bergara 2, closes at midnight from Tuesday to Saturday, and Alsur Café on Carrer de Roger de Llúria serves daily 08:30–23:00.
