Wat Bo Village takes its name from Wat Bo (វត្តបូព៌), one of the older pagodas in Siem Reap, which stands in the center of town on the east side of the Siem Reap River.1 The temple keeps a painted cycle of the Reamker, the Khmer version of the Ramayana; the Cambodia Daily dates the paintings to the 1860s.12
In October 2022 Time Out ranked the neighborhood third in its list of the world's coolest neighborhoods and first in Asia, crediting a glow-up over the previous couple of years.3 It now has more cafés than any other part of Siem Reap, strung along Wat Bo Road and the numbered streets that cross it, from Street 18 to Street 27.
Local tip: Wat Bo's cafés sit on the side streets as much as on the main road: start on Street 26 for Footprint and Tag Café, then walk one block to Street 25 for Brolaom's arabica.
Nothing matches those filters here. See all cafés in Siem Reap.
Wat Bo sits across the water from the Old Market and Pub Street. Wikivoyage describes it as a more tranquil and upmarket area than the west bank, with trendy restaurants and cafés, some of which moved over from the busier streets around Pub Street.4
A tuk-tuk across the river is a short ride: as of April 2026, trips of 1–2 km cost about US$1–2, and an app-booked 2 km ride about US$1.46, or 5,800 riel.5
Brolaom Coffee, on Street 25, opened in September 2023 as a specialty roaster serving only arabica, brewed by several methods and described with flavor notes such as peach and lychee.6 Brother Bong, on Street 20, was started by Bunthoeun, an award-winning Cambodian barista, and his wife Leang Heng; it roasts in house and has a shaded patio.6
Street 25 also has Temple Coffee n Bakery, and Latte Bar is at 20b Street 21.
Street 26 holds Footprint Cafes, Greenery Café, Momo Coffee and Tea and, at number 116, Tag Café, which has Wi-Fi and outdoor tables. Footprint is a restaurant, bookshop and co-working space that reinvests all its net profits in grants for local education and business projects, and it made Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2021 list.7
At the corner of Street 27 and Wat Bo Road, The Muffin Man is a Melbourne-inspired bakery café with vegan options and furniture made from recycled wood.8 Wikivoyage notes that most of its staff are people with mild disabilities.4
Aline Café, at 36 Aleah Road, opens at 06:00 every day, and Mr. Coffed, at 7 Makara (High School Road), at 06:30, early enough for a coffee before a temple pickup. Mr. Coffed then stays open until 22:00.
BioLab Café, at 0418 Wat Bo Street, also serves until 22:00, from a 07:00 start, and has vegan dishes. New York Bagels opens 07:00–19:00 and closes on Mondays. On Wat Bo Road itself are Veg G Table at number 175, Upstairs at 0545 and V Team Coffee at the corner of Street 24.
