Holešovice fills a meander of the Vltava north of the center. Once a heavily industrial suburb, it now holds the National Gallery’s Trade Fair Palace and the National Technical Museum.1 Letná is the hill on its southern edge, above the river and the old town, with Letná Park and the open Letná Plain; it is not an official district, but sits on the border of Holešovice and Bubeneč.24
Cafés have moved into former factories and quiet side streets; Seznam Zprávy credits them with bringing empty buildings back to life.3 On Letná they line Milady Horákové and the streets off Letenské náměstí. Down in Holešovice, Veletržní has the most, followed by Heřmanova and Komunardů. This is an early district: about three in five cafés open by 08:00 on weekdays.
Local tip: Acid Coffee, in a courtyard on Dukelských hrdinů, holds a live synth jam on the first Wednesday of each month.3
