Vršovice lies southeast of the center in Prague 10. First recorded in 1088, it was incorporated into Prague in 1922.1 It has two football clubs, Slavia Prague at the Eden Arena and Bohemians 1905 at the Ďolíček stadium, and in 2016 The New York Times called it one of the capital’s “it” neighborhoods.1

Its cafés gather on a few streets near the Vinohrady border. Moskevská and Kodaňská have the most, followed by Vršovická, and Krymská, a short street named after Crimea, is where the district’s café revival began in 2010.2

Local tip: Korso Krymská brings vendors and crowds onto Krymská once a year; the 2025 edition was on Saturday 24 May, so check the date before you plan a quiet coffee there.2

Getting to Vršovice

Two railway stations, Praha-Vršovice and Praha-Eden, serve the district, which also holds the Eden shopping center.1 Its older landmarks include St. Nicholas Church, dating from 1374, and St. Wenceslas Church, completed in 1930, and the Koh-i-Noor Waldes factory still makes buttons and press studs here.1

Krymská and Korso Krymská

Krymská got its name in 1947, and for years it was rundown. In 2010 Ondřej Kobza opened Café V Lese there, which set off a wave of bars, cafés, galleries and events along the street.2 Café V lese is at Krymská 12; Satsang at No. 24 opens daily 09:00–23:00.

Korso Krymská, the street party that grew out of the revival, was first held in 2013 and paused for four years for street works and the pandemic. Radek Motlík, who manages Café V Lese, says almost every business on the street takes part.2

Café Sladkovský, at Sevastopolská 17, is now mainly an evening café and tapas bar. It is named after the journalist and politician Karel Sladkovský, whose bust sits above the entrance, and pours beer from Únětice.3 It opens at 16:30 from Monday to Saturday and at 11:00 on Sundays.
