Crossing from the station
The Hanshin Expressway and National Route 2 separate Harborland from the station, so walk through the Duo Kobe underground mall or take the second-floor deck.2 Kōsoku Kōbe Station on the Hanshin and Hankyu lines and Harborland Station on the Kaigan subway line are both transfer points. The JR station itself is elevated, with three platforms and five tracks, and most trains run straight through on the JR Kobe Line.1
By the water, a red-brick warehouse built in 1897 was donated to the city by Mitsubishi Warehouse when Harborland opened and became an important townscape building in 2007. A street of restaurants in brick warehouses lines the water near Takahama pier.2
Mosaic and Canal Garden
Nishimura Coffee's Harborland shop moved after the 1995 earthquake from the fifth floor of the North Mall to the ground floor of Canal Garden.3 Inside umie Mosaic are Bless Cafe on the second floor, Frantz Cafe on the third and a Rokkō Bokujō dairy café, and Streamer Coffee Company is at Higashikawasaki-chō 1-7-1.
Port Tower and its rotating café
Kobe Port Tower, at Hatoba-chō 5-5, reopened on 26 April 2024 after closing in September 2021. A rooftop deck about 100 m up looks over the city, and Ready go round, a café on the third floor of the observation level, turns once in about 30 minutes.4
In 2024 the observation floor and deck cost ¥1,200 for adults, the deck and observation floors were open 09:00–23:00, and the tower was a 15-minute walk from the west exit of Motomachi Station or five minutes from exit 2 of Minato-Motomachi on the Kaigan line.4 So Table Kobe and Warajiya list addresses on the same block.
Tamon-dōri and Minatogawa Shrine
Minatogawa Shrine stands by Kobe Station's north exit.1 West of it, up a gentle slope under a blue-tiled roof, Furumoto Coffee (ふるもと珈琲店) on Tamon-dōri 4-chōme lines its walls with cups and brews by hand drip.5 It opens 08:30–18:30 on weekdays and from 09:00 on Saturdays, and is smoke-free.
Jigokudani Paradise (地獄谷パラダイス, "Hell Valley Paradise") in Aioi-chō 5-chōme is a quiet room despite its name.6 UCC's registered head office is nearby at Tamon-dōri 5-1-6,7 and Coffee Up! at Aioi-chō 5-10-21 opens at 09:00.

How do you walk from Kobe Station to Harborland?
Walk south through the Duo Kobe underground mall, or use the second-floor deck. The Hanshin Expressway and National Route 2 run between the station and Harborland, so the street-level route is a detour. Harborland Station on the Kaigan subway line is another option.
When did Harborland in Kobe open?

The umie shopping complex, which includes the Mosaic waterfront mall, opened on 18 April 2013. Nishimura Coffee has a shop on the ground floor of Canal Garden.
How much does it cost to visit Kobe Port Tower?
In 2024 an adult ticket for the observation floor and rooftop deck cost ¥1,200, and both were open 09:00–23:00. The tower reopened on 26 April 2024 after renovation, with a rotating café on the third observation floor that turns once in about 30 minutes.
