Abdoun (عبدون) is a residential district in southwest Amman, technically split into North and South Abdoun but called by one name, and many consider it the city's most affluent neighborhood.1 It hosts many embassies, among them those of the United States, Egypt and Portugal, and Queen Zein al-Sharaf Street, named for King Hussein's mother, is known as Embassy Road.23 Deir Ghbar (دير غبار) borders it, as do Sweifieh and Jabal Amman.1
Abdoun Circle, ringed by restaurants, cafés, malls and market stalls, is where the city's young people go out, and the TAJ Lifestyle Center is one of Jordan's most upscale malls.1 This is also the specialty end of town. In 2019 Melange, on Fawzi al-Qaweqji Street since 2017, poured single-origin coffee from Vienna's CoffeePirates, with Kava Roasters nearby.4

Getting there: the Abdoun Bridge
The Abdoun Bridge, opened on 14 December 2006 after four years of work, carries traffic 417 m across Wadi Abdoun, linking Abdoun Circle with the 4th Circle and Zahran Street.51 It is the country's only cable-stayed bridge, with three Y-shaped towers, an S-curved deck and 45 m of clearance below.5
Abdoun also has some of Amman's larger green spaces: the Housing Bank Garden, the Japanese Park, Amman Martyrs Park and Aldiyar Park.1

Caffè Strada at No. 15 and Location Cafe at No. 17 share Fawzi al-Mughrabi Street, while Base Coffee and Caffé Molinari sit on Shihan al-Oqleh Street in North Abdoun.
Base Coffee runs two branches, in Abdoun and on the Boulevard, and its best seller in 2025 was iced matcha; Comma Coffee, known for a toffee crunch latte, also counts Abdoun among its branches.6 LOGANA and Release Coffee are both on Ba'albak Street, and LOGANA has Wi-Fi, air conditioning and outdoor tables.
