Outdoor seating in Almaty is a summer arrangement. Cafés set out летние веранды (letnie verandy, summer verandas), called летники (letniki) for short, on pavements and in courtyards, and in May 2026 the city's business department put their share at about 30% of establishments; it is now simplifying the permits, because the current rules don't fit temporary structures and some terraces go up unapproved.1

Golden Square has the most cafés with outdoor seats, followed by Almaly and Samal & Dostyk. As a share of their cafés, Satpayev & Republic Square and Samal & Dostyk are the most terrace-minded parts of town.

Local tip: After dark in the center, Coffee Original at Gogol 75 keeps its outdoor tables open all night, long after the metro stops at midnight.6

Terrace weather

The city averages 10 °C over the year and gets 650–700 mm of precipitation, most of it in April and May, the two wettest months.2 For terrace evenings, July averages 23.8 °C.2

Kok-Tobe, the hilltop park reached by cable car from near Hotel Kazakhstan, has viewing platforms and restaurants at about 1,100 m above sea level.3

Lugansky Street and Samal

East of Dostyk Avenue, Lugansky Street has a run of verandas. Зоя (Zoya) at number 133 serves brunch outside from 08:00 to 21:00, and Терренкур (Terrenkur) at 107b keeps its outdoor tables going until 23:00. Gašir and Karak Home both sit at Lugansky 77, and Cream, further up at 143, has seats inside and out.

In Samal, Social coffee at Satpayev 10 has a terrace, as does March March. Between terraces, the Esentai riverside path offers a walk of up to 4.2 km, from the water divider down to Zhamakayev Street.4

Abay Avenue, Kabanbay Batyr and Zheltoksan

Abay Avenue is lined with outdoor tables. JumpinGoat Coffee at Abay 37 opens 08:00–21:00 and Six Coffee+Wine is at 17a; Shaden Coffee and Tomchi share Abay 47, the first open until midnight; Degusto Coffee is at Abay 95, and Jolly (109V), Seventy Coffee (115) and Марципан (117) face the avenue further west.

In the Golden Square, Sensilyo Coffee house at Kabanbay Batyr 33 and fika at Kabanbay Batyr 104 put tables out. On Zheltoksan, Usta Türik kafesi and Кафе Плюс (Kafeplus) at number 144 both have terraces, and on Abylai Khan Avenue so do Flask Coffee at 104, Daily coffee at 147 and Aurora on the Zhambyl corner.

Around the Arbat and in Almaly

Coffee Original at Gogol 75 is the terrace that never closes, and Benedict at Gogol 87 and Arabica speciality coffee on Nazarbayev Avenue have outdoor seats too; KobakoTsuvari on Baiyshev Street opens 09:00–20:00. The pedestrian blocks of Panfilov Street nearby, closed to traffic in 2017, carry dry fountains that are lit at night.5

In Almaly, Eva Coffee House at Auezov 48 serves outside from 07:00 to 23:00, Hot Point at Auezov 56A runs day and night, and Ipar, Lati, Kefa Coffee, Melita and Эмиль also have outdoor seating. In the west, Золотая долина (Zolotaya Dolina, "golden valley") serves outside 10:00–22:00.
