Frogner is Oslo’s affluent west end, with most of its houses built around 1900 and the highest property prices in Norway. The borough also takes in Majorstuen, Uranienborg and the Bygdøy peninsula.1

Its center of gravity is Frogner Park, at 45 hectares the city’s largest, where 212 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland make up the world’s largest sculpture park by a single artist.2 Majorstuen, named after an 18th-century public house that belonged to a Captain Michael Wilhelm von Sundt, is the area’s transport hub and shopping district,3 and from it Bogstadveien and Hegdehaugsveien run back toward the Royal Palace.34

Local tip: Enter Frogner Park by the Main Gate on Kirkeveien rather than the gate at the Vigelandsparken tram stop, and Kafe Vigeland is immediately on your right.
