Oncheoncheon (온천천) rises on Geumjeongsan and runs south, then southeast, through Geumjeong-gu, Dongnae-gu and Yeonje-gu before joining the Suyeong River at Allak-dong; it is the Suyeong's first tributary, fed by 14 smaller streams.1 The name comes from Oncheon-dong upstream, better known as the Dongnae hot-spring district (온천, oncheon, hot spring), whose springs appear in Joseon-era gazetteers.1
From the late 2010s cafés and restaurants filled the Allak-dong side of the stream, and the strip became known as Oncheoncheon Café Street.1 They sit on the embankment above the riverside park, along Oncheoncheon-ro and the numbered lanes off it.2
Local tip: Come in the first days of April, when about 650 king cherry trees flower between Sebyeong and Allak bridges; Comodotable on Oncheoncheon-ro 431beon-gil stays open until 22:00 for the walk back under the trees.1

By the 1990s covering, concrete banks and sewage had turned Oncheoncheon into little more than a drain, and illegal water extraction dried out its upper valleys.1 Residents and officials launched the "Oncheoncheon SOS" campaign in 1995; in 1999 concrete was removed from a 240 m stretch to restore a natural bed, and in 2005 Oncheoncheon Citizens' Park opened, followed in November by a channel bringing in water from the Nakdong River.1
The park has about 60,000 trees and more than 45 kinds of flowers, and is open at all hours with free entry.2 Free bicycles are lent from 09:00 to 17:00 for two hours with ID, for use inside the park only.2
About 650 king cherry trees between Sebyeong Bridge and Allak Bridge flower each year in early April, and canola beds are planted on the banks for the season.1 Later in April the Oncheoncheon Culture Festival brings a rock festival, outdoor theater and a kite-flying contest to the park.1
The citizens' park has bike paths about 5.5 km long and 2.5 to 3 m wide.1 In 2012 the walkway was extended about 685 m from near Allak Bridge to the confluence, which lies about 3.1 km above the mouth of the Suyeong River; joined to the Suyeong's own paths, the route makes a loop of about 27.3 km.1
Line 1 follows the stream, and its Gyodae and Dongnae stations are close to the riverside paths.1 Allak station, on the Donghae Line in Allak-dong itself, opened as a temporary platform in 1989 and became part of the Busan Metro Donghae Line in 2016.3 Farther up the valley, Momos Coffee opened its first shop in 2007 in Bugok-dong, Geumjeong-gu, in an old house near Oncheonjang station.45
