Gwangalli Beach (광안리해수욕장) curves for about 1.4 km around a cove in Gwangan-dong, Suyeong-gu, and is 25 to 110 m wide; the alleys behind it are full of restaurants, coffee shops and bars.1 Across the mouth of the cove runs Gwangan Bridge (광안대교), a double-decked suspension bridge 7.42 km long that links Suyeong-gu with Haeundae.2 It carried traffic for the 2002 Asian Games and opened officially in January 2003.2

For coffee, the area splits in two. The beach road, Gwanganhaebyeon-ro (광안해변로), holds the cafés with the bridge in the window, while the roasters work on the side streets toward Suyeong-ro. Namcheon-dong, at the western end of the beach, is mostly apartments, among them the late-1970s Samik Beach complex (삼익비치) and its old cherry trees.3

Local tip: For the Saturday drone show, take a window seat early at one of the upper-floor cafés on Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, such as 뚜벅스 on the seventh floor of no. 239: each show lasts only about 12 minutes.7

The Gwangalli M Drone Light Show, which bills itself as Korea's first permanent drone show, flies over the beach on Saturday evenings, about 12 minutes a performance.7 The Busan Fireworks Festival (부산불꽃축제) began in 2005 to mark the APEC summit and is staged around the beach and the bridge.8 Its 21st edition is set for 7 November 2026, from 13:00 to 20:00, with viewing areas extended to Haeundae and Igidae.8

Samik Beach's cherry trees were planted when the complex was built and have grown for more than 40 years; in 2026 they were past full bloom by early April.3 The complex is being rebuilt, and once main construction starts the blossom road is unlikely to survive in its present form.3
