Valencia had a late-morning meal long before brunch arrived. The esmorzaret (little breakfast), taken roughly between 09:00 and 12:00, starts with a picaeta of local peanuts, lupins and pickles and moves on to a crusty bocadillo (sandwich) such as the almussafes: sobrasada, caramelized onion and melted cheese. A cold beer or vi amb llimonà, wine with soda, goes with it, and a cremaet, coffee with burned rum, closes it.1
Brunch is the café version: eggs, toast, bowls and cakes with a flat white, served from opening time into the early afternoon. The Cabanyal has the most brunch cafés, ahead of Extramurs and Ciutat Vella, and several of them also serve specialty coffee.
Local tip: Book on weekends where you can: Café ArtySana takes reservations for brunch, which it serves until 13:30.2

What brunch costs in Valencia
Most cafés sell brunch as a set menu. As of 2024, Café ArtySana charged €14 for its brunch menu, with gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian choices, served until 13:30 with or without a booking.2 Federal, on Carrer de l’Ambaixador Vich, has no set menu; a brunch there averaged about €15 in 2024, with local produce and vegan dishes, and it opens at 09:00 every day.2
Coffee adds little to the bill. In 2022, a comparison of café con leche and espresso prices in the center found little difference between ordinary bars and specialty cafés such as Cult Café.3
Brunch in the Cabanyal
Cafe Artysana’s Cabanyal branch on Carrer de la Reina opens at 08:30 on weekdays and stays open until 22:00 on Friday and Saturday. Doux / Amer, on Carrer de Just Vilar, serves specialty coffee with sweet and savory crêpes, waffles, shakes and homemade cakes.4
D’Mundos, on Carrer de Vidal de Blanes, is a weekday place, open 08:00–15:30 Monday to Friday, and la Ruana is out on Avinguda del Port.
Carrer de Conca and the old town
In Extramurs, two brunch cafés share Carrer de Conca: Anval café at number 31, open until 21:00 or 22:00, and CLEM CAFÉ at number 40, which closes on Tuesday. Café La Placita on Plaça de Sant Sebastià serves brunch and stays open past midnight from Tuesday to Saturday.
In the old town, Cult Café on Carrer de l’Arquebisbe Mayoral opened in autumn 2021 with halloumi, açaí, avocado toast and bagels with eggs and salmon, and lattes made with turmeric, ginger or beetroot.3 Italian Break is on Carrer de la Pau. El Carmen has MESTIZO on Carrer del Portal de Valldigna and El Coffi del Carmen on Carrer de la Creu.
Timing a weekend brunch
Brunch here ends early. Cult Café closes at 14:00 on Sunday, Doux / Amer at 16:00 every day and MESTIZO at 16:30 at weekends; Federal is the exception, open until 21:00 on Friday and Saturday. For an early start, Dolçaroma on Plaça dels Arquitectes Calvo opens at 07:00 on weekdays, and Espresso Pastel on Carrer de Manolo Taberner opens at 08:00 every day, reopening at 17:00 except on Saturday.
