Café Wi-Fi took hold early in Buenos Aires. In July 2008 a study by Marco Consultora, reported by the city's council of economics professionals, counted 675 public Wi-Fi points in the city, 465 of them in bars and restaurants, about 69% of all public access; the service had started in the Microcentro.1 One accountant quoted in the piece said Wi-Fi let her move her office anywhere.1
Outdoors, the city runs its own network. By July 2023 BA WiFi had more than 2,400 access points in plazas, parks and Metrobus and subte stations; it is free, works 24 hours a day and needs no registration, only acceptance of the terms.2 Almagro, Caballito, Núñez and Recoleta have the widest choice of cafés with Wi-Fi.
Local tip: If a café's connection drops, walk to the nearest plaza or subte station and pick the BA WIFI network: it is free, needs no password and asks only that you accept the terms.

The Buenos Aires Herald's 2023 list of cafés to work from started with Hábito, at México 1152 in Monserrat, for fast, reliable internet, plentiful sockets and long, broad tables, and warned that it fills up around 17:00.3 It opens at 09:00 or 10:00 on weekdays depending on the day, and 10:00–18:00 on Saturdays.
Time Out's 2025 specialty roundup named Hobby, at Malabia 1343 in Palermo Soho, as a place for brunch, catch-ups or remote work, and called Cuadra, a bakery of laminated pastries and breads, perfect for remote work over lunch.4 Hobby opens daily 07:30–21:30, and Cuadra's restaurant at Concepción Arenal 2629 runs 08:30–00:00 on five days a week.
Power is harder to find than a signal. Time Out's 2024 guide to cafés for studying and working sent readers to Vedra, at Vuelta de Obligado 2613 in Belgrano, for a shared table and a bar fitted with sockets; to Siba, at Montañeses 2999 in Núñez, for tables with outlets; and to Mucho, at Conesa 2686, for fast Wi-Fi and accessible plugs.5
In Colegiales, La Noire, at Virrey Loreto 3302, has a quiet interior patio.5 A 2025 remote-work guide warns that it is often busy and that strangers may share your table, and it says Darién, at Avenida Doctor Honorio Pueyrredón 1534 in Villa Crespo, is small and quiet enough that it pays to arrive early for a long session.6 La Noire opens daily 09:00–19:30.
Three cafés with Wi-Fi open at 07:00 every day: Broa on Crámer, which closes at 15:00, La Reina on Avenida Triunvirato and Central Pan on Avenida Melián. Café de Quartier, at Arenales 2802, and BUNA Cafe de Especialidad, at Crisólogo Larralde 1959, follow at 07:30.
For late work, El Secreto de Oro on Avenida Santa Fe never closes and Café del Arbol, on Humberto I in San Telmo, runs until 03:00. Josephina's, at Guido 1532, opens 07:00–00:00 on weekdays, and La balada cafe-bar, at Teodoro García 2920 in Colegiales, stays open until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
Several of the city's official bares notables offer Wi-Fi with their marble tables: Café Tortoni on Avenida de Mayo, La Poesía at Chile 502 in San Telmo, Montecarlo on Paraguay in Palermo, El Banderín at Guardia Vieja 3601 in Almagro, and the café on Avenida Federico Lacroze that houses the Museo Fotográfico Simik.7
For daylight, Clorindo, at Talcahuano 1261, has a pastel-toned courtyard, and The Shelter Coffee, at Arroyo 940, pairs its coffee with scones, pound cakes and homemade cakes.4 Clorindo opens daily 09:00–20:00.
