Újlipótváros (New Leopold Town) lies north of Szent István körút in district XIII, between the Danube and Terézváros.1 Almost all its apartment buildings went up between 1927 and 1944 on what had been industrial land. The style is often loosely called Bauhaus, and the Dunapark houses are counted among Hungary's best modernist buildings.1

District XIII also takes in Angyalföld, Vizafogó, Népsziget and the Göncz Árpád városközpont; with 121,529 residents at the start of 2026 it is the fourth most populous district.2 Along Váci út, former factory sites have been replaced by office buildings, and the road has the most cafés in the district after Pozsonyi út.2

Local tip: Plan Sunday coffee in Újlipótváros: Mizu on Fáy utca, Figaro on Katona József utca and Habár on Gömb utca are open every day.
