Terasz (terrace) weather in Budapest runs from spring well into autumn. At the Pestszentlőrinc station, the 1991–2020 average daily high climbs from 17.9 °C in April to 22.6 °C in May and 28.1 °C in July, then drops to 16.4 °C in October.1 July is also the wettest month there, with 74 mm of rain on average.1

Hungary’s non-smokers’ protection act bans smoking in the public rooms of cafés and other public establishments.2 Catering and entertainment venues may mark out an open-air smoking area, even within five meters of the entrance when there is no room for one further away.2 A venue can also declare itself entirely smoke-free, which removes the need for a smoking area indoors or out.2

Local tip: For a terrace without smoke, look for a sign declaring the whole venue smoke-free: Hungarian law lets a café ban smoking outdoors as well as inside.2
