Getting around West Bay

Seven of the Doha Metro's 37 stations lie near the Corniche.² From January 2025 trains ran from 05:00 to 01:00 Saturday to Thursday and from 09:00 on Fridays.³ Walking between towers is a winter plan: July's average high is 42.4 °C, and even its nights average 32.1 °C.⁴

Cafés in the towers

Tornado Tower, a 195 m, 52-floor hourglass completed in 2008 and often called a variation on London's Gherkin, is home to Vortex Coffee Shop (فورتكس كوفي شوب) on Al Funduq Street.⁵ Coffee District is on the 14th floor of Al Asmakh Tower on Majlis Al Taawon Street, and Adam Coffee Shop is in Laffan Tower on Ambassadors Street.

Branches of % Arabica, Costa Coffee, Espressolab and Starbucks serve the same office crowd, and Pinna Bakery and Cafe, Spanish Latte Doha and Nova Coffee add independent choices.

Hotel cafés and 24-hour coffee

West Bay is where Doha's five-star hotel restaurants, lounges and 24-hour coffee shops cluster, and hotel dining here cost about QR100–200 a head in July 2026.⁶ The Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel has 456 rooms.¹ Bagel bar coffe house on Diplomatic Area Street is open 24 hours and has Wi-Fi.

Gourmet House at the Kempinski Residences opens 07:00–23:00, and Mondo Cafe by Lavazza at Aleph Doha Residences opens 07:00–22:00, with Wi-Fi and outdoor tables. Le Deli Robuchon is at the Four Seasons, La Parisienne at the InterContinental and W Café at the W.

Along the Corniche

Walking south from the Sheraton, the Corniche passes Sheraton Park and Dafna Park, both with docks where dhows leave for trips around the bay.² Al Bidda Park and the Museum of Islamic Art Park lie farther south along the same walk.²

Underpasses and cycle paths run beside the dual carriageway, and Ashghal, the public works authority, launched a redevelopment of the Corniche in October 2017.² The promenade hosts the Qatar National Day Parade and National Sports Day events, and in 2022 it held World Cup fan zones.² In summer the promenade fills after dark, when the cooler night air brings people out to the Corniche and the waterfront.⁶
