Nongkrong, hanging out, keeps Jakarta's cafés open into the night. One Indonesian writer defined it as meeting to talk, "and smoke for some", offered "to chill out" as the nearest English, and described weekend sessions that last hours, with the serious topics used up in the first one.1
Tanjung Duren, in West Jakarta, has the most late cafés, about two in five of them, and Tebet is second. Mouse Coffee on Jalan Hayam Wuruk keeps the latest regular hours, 09:00–04:00. Inspiring Koffie Place on Jalan Majapahit, Ropang Kebut Harapan Mulya on Jalan Cempaka Wangi II, Roti Bakar 69 on Jalan Tanjung Duren Raya and Warkop Jeruk Purut in South Jakarta never close.
Local tip: Warkop Jeruk Purut takes cash only, so carry small notes; a warkop menu often starts around Rp10,000.3
Where these cafés are: Tanjung Duren & Kemanggisan (18), Tebet (10), Kuningan & Setiabudi (4), Gambir & Pasar Baru (4), Ampera & Pejaten (3), Kota Tua & Glodok (2), Menteng & Cikini (2), Pondok Indah & Gandaria (1), Blok M & Kebayoran Baru (1).
Nothing matches those filters here. See all cafés in Jakarta.
The warkop, short for warung kopi (coffee stall), grew out of the street-side kiosk. A typical one is makeshift and open-sided, with plastic stools or wooden benches; it sells instant coffee made from a sachet with water from a thermos, alongside cup noodles, gorengan (fritters) and everyday goods, to ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers and workers on a break.2
They are cheap. A September 2025 round-up of 24-hour warkop put menus from about Rp10,000–12,000, and in October 2025 a two-story 24-hour warkop on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara I priced noodles, toast and banana fritters from Rp8,000.34 Warkop Jeruk Purut is open around the clock and takes cash only; Warkop Titik Tembaga on Jalan Tembaga Raya serves until 00:00.
One road carries most of West Jakarta's late trade. On Jalan Tanjung Duren Raya, +62 Coffee & Space at No. 10, Kataru at No. 15A and Lekker Dan Kopi at No. 17B all close at 01:00, and Roti Bakar 69, a roti bakar (toast) shop at No. 52, is open 24 hours. Kaneel Cafe at No. 12, Eskopi Indonesia at No. 64 and Kopi Langkah at No. 98C close at 22:00.
The lanes to the north stay up longer. Kopi Domu, on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara IV, opens 07:00–02:00 with air conditioning and outdoor seats, and Aming Coffee on the same street serves until 00:00. Molek Pisang Kopi on Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat I closes at 23:00, and in Rawa Belong, Warkop Medan di Jakarta stays open until 02:00.
Aceh coffee shops in Jakarta are known for strong coffee and serve as gathering places, popular both with Acehnese living in the city and with other coffee drinkers.5 The method to watch for is kopi saring, strained coffee, which is filtered repeatedly until its flavor develops; at the Aceh pavilion of the 2018 Jakarta Fair a cup cost Rp10,000.6
For an Aceh coffee after dark, KOPI ACEH KARIM in Kebayoran Baru serves until 23:00 every day, from 08:00, and has Wi-Fi and tables outside on Jalan Radio Dalam.
Not every late café opens early. Eat Happens Tebet on Jalan Tebet Utara Dalam opens only at 16:00 and closes at 23:00, and Warung Pancong is open 10:00–00:00. Oh La La Cafe closes at 22:00.
Further south, Berkala Coffee at Jalan Ampera Raya No. 1 serves until 23:00 and has both Wi-Fi and a terrace, and Calf Coffee in Ampera closes at 22:00. Kellon Sundulangit, a rooftop on Jalan Sultan Iskandar Muda in Pondok Indah, opens 10:00–22:00 and allows smoking.
