Sitting outside in Jakarta means sitting in heat: average daily highs are about 32.5 °C and lows about 25.5 °C, with little change through the year. Rain sets the calendar instead. February averages about 381 mm and August about 52 mm, and June to September are the drier months.1
The dry months bring their own trouble. IQAir data put Jakarta's average PM2.5 in the "moderate" band from November 2025 to April 2026 and in the "unhealthy" band in June; on 18 June it reached about 61 µg/m³, some 11 times the WHO limit.2 Tebet has about a quarter of the city's cafés with outdoor seats, Tanjung Duren is close behind, and Kuningan is third.
Local tip: From June to September the rain eases but the air is often at its worst, so check a PM2.5 reading before choosing a terrace.12

On Jalan Tebet Timur Dalam Raya itself, KOUP! at No. 11 opens 09:00–22:00 and Pouter Coffee at No. 107a from 10:00, both with seats outside; Selawaktu Coffee at No. 126, also with outdoor seats, is open until 00:00.
Tanjung Duren and Kemanggisan
Several outdoor cafés here also have air conditioning. Kopi Domu on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara IV opens 07:00–02:00, and Lekker Dan Kopi at Jalan Tanjung Duren Raya No. 17B serves 10:00–01:00; both have air conditioning as well as outdoor seats. So do Kedai Malacca, at Jalan KH Syahdan No. 12, which is smoke-free, and HALU COFfEE on Jalan Taman S. Parman.
Sudutsatu Cafe on Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat I has outdoor tables, Wi-Fi and toilets, and opens 10:00–21:30 on weekdays and until 22:00 at weekends.
A café in a forest, and a rooftop
Arborea Cafe stands in a man-made forest inside the Manggala Wanabakti complex of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, on Jalan Gatot Subroto. It is built as a wooden house, with wooden floors, stairs and walls, and serves coffee from Toraja, Aceh Gayo, Mandailing, Kerinci, Wamena and Solok beans. It opens 08:00–20:00 on weekdays and 11:00–20:00 at weekends.3
Kellon Sundulangit takes a rooftop on Jalan Sultan Iskandar Muda, the arterial road through Pondok Indah, and opens 10:00–22:00 daily. Nearer the center, Anamcara Coffee is on Jalan Seha II in Senayan, and Mokka in Menteng opens 08:00–20:00 with takeaway.
Smoking and the outdoor table
Jakarta's 2010 governor regulation on smoke-free areas required any designated smoking place to be physically separate, outside the building and away from its entrances.4 The city council passed a new bylaw on smoke-free areas on 23 December 2025.5
Kellon Sundulangit allows smoking. Delico, a bakery café with outdoor tables on Jalan Dr Ide Anak Agung Gde Agung, and Sajiwa Coffee & Tea on Jalan Halimun Raya are smoke-free, as is Mustly Coffee in the Taman Harapan Indah complex, which opens 10:00–22:00.
