Above the tracks between Zhongshan and Shuanglian stations runs Xinzhongshan Linear Park (心中山線形公園), about 500 m long and 25 m wide, on land freed when the Tamsui railway went underground in the 1990s; its current design opened in November 2019.2 It sits in the Nanxi (南西) shopping district, beside Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and Eslite's Nanxi store.2

Chifeng Street (赤峰街), the next street west, came to be called 打鐵仔街 ("blacksmith street") after World War II.1 The name came from the nearby Japanese-era hub of forged farm tools and, later, machinery parts from ship-breaking, around today's Wanquan and Xingcheng Streets.1

Local tip: Walk the linear park north from Zhongshan station and turn west into Chifeng Street; KWON SAEM COFFEE at No. 18-3 opens at noon.
