Beverly Hills lies to the west, and Los Angeles neighborhoods surround the rest: the Hollywood Hills to the north, Hollywood to the east and the Fairfax District to the southeast.1 About 40% of residents identify as LGBT, and the city's first council was the first in the country with a gay majority.1
Two boulevards run the length of the city, Sunset to the north and Santa Monica through the middle, and Melrose Avenue's western end forms its design district.1 The city runs its own free shuttles, the PickUp and the Sunset Trip.1
