The Wiener Frühstück (Viennese breakfast) is a small, fixed plate: a Semmel (bread roll) and a slice of bread, butter, jam or honey and a soft-boiled egg. At Café Museum on Operngasse it cost €9.80 as of April 2026, with an organic egg and sourdough from the Öfferl bakery, and ham, salami and cheese added €8.70.1

The Vienna Tourist Board calls breakfast in a coffee house the most classic way to begin a day in the city.2 The bigger Kaffeehaus version adds eggs: Café Museum's Kaffeehaus Frühstück of two soft eggs in a glass with chive bread cost €12.90, and breakfast there is served daily until 11:30.1

Local tip: Order before 11:30 in the classic Kaffeehäuser, when Café Museum, for one, stops serving breakfast; for a late start, Gota on Mariahilfer Straße serves it until 14:00.13
