The 7e holds the Eiffel Tower, the Invalides, the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée Rodin, along with the National Assembly, the Hôtel Matignon and many of the ministries.1 Far fewer people live here than once did: 48,015 in 2023, down from a peak of 110,684 in 1926.1
Its cafés split between visitors and government staff. Rue de Grenelle has the most, ahead of Rue Cler and Rue Saint-Dominique, and about half of them close on Sundays, which is unusual for Paris. Nights end early too: the latest cafés here wind down around midnight, and a 02:00 close, common elsewhere in the city, is hard to find.
Local tip: Plan Sundays in advance, since about half the cafés in the 7e close; Café Gustave near the tower and Les Téléphones on Rue Cler both open every day at 07:00.
