Bengaluru's nicknames include the Silicon Valley of India and the IT Capital of India, and its cafés show it.1 As more people began working remotely during the pandemic, cafés and roasteries filled in for offices, and these away-from-home venues are now the fastest-growing part of India's specialty coffee market.2

Indiranagar and Jayanagar have the most cafés with Wi-Fi, ahead of Malleshwaram. A laptop is not welcome everywhere, though: some cafés that allow them on weekdays restrict them at weekends and peak hours.3

Local tip: Plan laptop work for weekdays: several Indiranagar cafés that allow laptops then restrict them at weekends and busy times.

Where these cafés are: Indiranagar (5), Jayanagar (5), Malleshwaram (2), Basavanagudi (1), MG Road & Brigade Road (1), Koramangala (1), Rajajinagar & Vijayanagar (1), JP Nagar & Banashankari (1), HSR Layout (1), Bellandur & Marathahalli (1), BTM Layout (1).

The laptop debate

Laptop rules became news in 2026. A user named Kautuk complained on X about Bengaluru coffee shops such as Subko turning away laptops, and the reply from Subko's head of strategic growth, Neha Joshi, was that laptop users can stay when the café is quiet and are moved to work zones when it is full.4

The same report put the average remote worker's spend in an Indian café at about ₹500 a day on drinks or a baked snack.4 Owners in Indiranagar explained their weekend rules as a way to keep seating fair for everyone.3
