Mokotów is a large district south of the center, 35.42 km² with about 218,000 residents in 2019. The village of Mokotowo first appears in documents in 1367, and it became part of Warsaw in 1916.1 Most of its buildings survived the war, so the modernist blocks of the 1930s still stand, and Stary Mokotów is among the most expensive places to live in the city.1

Cafés are spread across a big area, so pick a part: Stary Mokotów around Narbutta and Dąbrowskiego, Puławska as the main spine, and the office district of Służewiec to the south-west. Mokotów has more cafés with terraces than any other part of Warsaw, and more bakery cafés.

Local tip: Several Mokotów cafés keep weekday-only hours: Filiżanka Cafe on Cybernetyki and Redakcyjna at Czerska 8/10 open Monday to Friday only, Redakcyjna from 07:30.
