Warsaw has sat near the top of HappyCow’s vegan rankings for years. In 2019 the site placed it sixth in the world, its third year running in the top ten, counting 50 fully vegan restaurants within five miles of the center against 11 five years before.1 In 2022 it came ninth, with close to 70 vegan restaurants within 10 km, most of them within a kilometer of each other.2
HappyCow also noted that in Warsaw veganism has long had an edge over vegetarianism.2 Among cafés, the right bank leads: Kamionek and Grochów have the largest group with vegan options, about a third of all cafés there, followed by Mokotów, the streets around Wilcza and Praga-Północ.
Local tip: On Fat Thursday, go to Baja on Solec for vegan pączki; it opens at 08:00 on weekdays.3
