Earl's Court probably owes its name to the de Vere family, Earls of Oxford, who held the lordship for centuries.1 In the late 1960s Australian, New Zealand and South African travelers used it as a hub, and it became known as Kangaroo Valley; the exhibition center closed in 2014.1
North End Road, an ancient route between the former hamlets of North End and Walham Green, runs from Olympia to Fulham Road, and its street market has traded since the late 19th century.2 Coffee Underground and Lytte Coffee both start at 07:00. Further down, the former village of Walham Green now goes by Fulham Broadway.2
Local tip: Troubadour hosts music on most days, so check its listings before an evening visit if you want a quiet coffee rather than a show.4

Troubadour on Old Brompton Road
Michael and Sheila van Bloemen opened Troubadour in 1954 as a bohemian café, and The Nudge described it in 2023 as one of the last surviving coffee shops of that era.3 Old Brompton Road marks the southern edge of Earl's Court.1
Troubadour's stage history is the reason people still seek it out: Bob Dylan made his first London appearance there at Christmas 1962, billed as Blind Boy Grunt, and Paul Simon played on 9 June 1964.9 The van Bloemens ran it until 1972, and Giles McNamee has held it since 2015 after two further owners.9 The Nudge adds Jimi Hendrix to its list of first London shows.3
It is now a restaurant, pub, coffee house and garden with music on most days, and Adele and Florence Welch appear on its list of more recent performers, after Davey Graham, Martin Carthy and Judy Collins in the earlier years.4 Tables in the back garden are lit by candles and fairy lights among the greenery.3
Earl's Court Road and Holland Park
Further north, Over Under on Earl's Court Road calls itself a brunch spot with its focus on coffee and small plates, plus a cabinet of grab-and-go food.5
Holland Park Café takes a different line, set in the park's grounds on Ilchester Place and run by Daisy Green.6 The cooking is Australian-inspired, there is takeaway for picnics, and a dedicated hatch sells Gelupo gelato.6 Brunch, salads and sandwiches give way to afternoon drinks and small plates in the evening.6 It keeps 07:45–19:00 every day.
Hazlebury Road and Parsons Green
Carbon Kopi has operated since 2019, with Barons Court as its first shop and Hazlebury Road as its "bright younger sibling".7 The house coffee is roasted by Plot Roasting in London, with guest roasters through the year, milk from The Estate Dairy and pastries from Lockdown Bakehouse in Wandsworth; the cookies are baked in-house daily.7 It says each shop made Eater's list of best new coffee shops in its opening year.7
On the far side of the neighborhood, Hally's at 60 New King's Road has been Parsons Green's all-day café since 2013, with coffee, brunch, juices and, later on, wine and cocktails.8
