The subway runs all night again: overnight closures for cleaning ended on May 17, 2021, when 24-hour service resumed at 02:00.1 Many of the cafés open after 22:00 are Yemeni coffeehouses, Greek cafés, dessert bars and tea shops rather than espresso bars.
The East Village and Lower East Side have the most late cafés, followed by Midtown, Park Slope, and Long Island City with Astoria. On Avenue B, The Roost serves until 03:30 at the end of the week, and Café Maud at 132 2nd Avenue keeps going until 02:00 from Thursday to Saturday.
Local tip: On a weekend night in Astoria, Haraz on Steinway Street serves until 01:00 and Omonia on Broadway until 01:30, so the evening can end with Yemeni coffee or a frappé.35

Haraz added a café at 25-43 Steinway Street in Astoria, in the stretch known as Little Egypt, in March 2025. Omonia Cafe has served Greek pastries on Broadway in Astoria since 1977, near the Broadway stop on the N and W lines.4 Its most popular drink is the frappé: instant coffee, sugar and water poured over milk and ice, alongside baklava, galaktoboureko (custard in filo) and portokalopita (orange cake).4 The café at 32-20 Broadway opens daily 06:00–01:30.5
