The Jardín Botánico sets the shape of this part of Palermo. Carlos Thays proposed the garden in 1892 and it opened on 7 September 1898 and took his name in 1937, on eight blocks bounded by Avenida Santa Fe, Avenida Las Heras, República Árabe Siria and Plaza Italia, where Line D stops at Santa Fe and Sarmiento, which makes this the easy end of the barrio to reach by subte.1
Coffee around it ranges from a Mar del Plata chain founded in the 1960s to bars pouring beans from local roasters, along with a self-described LGBT café bar on Avenida Honduras.237
Local tip: Birkin stays shut on Mondays, so on that day start at Confitería del Botánico instead, which opens at 07:00.

Birkin sits on República Árabe Siria, one of the streets that frames the garden.1 Maleva Mag’s 2023 piece on the city’s specialty cafés mentioned it, placing it simply near the Jardín Botánico.4 It opens Tuesday to Friday at 09:00 and at 10:00 on weekends, closing at 21:00, and offers Wi-Fi.
For an earlier or later cup, Confitería del Botánico at Santa Fe 3799 opens from 07:00 to 22:00 every day, with tables inside and out.
There are two addresses here, on Juan Francisco Seguí and Avenida del Libertador. Melanie Jafif and Martin Masri opened the original Lharmonie in 2021, and by November 2025 the business ran to four locations, the newest on Libertador, according to Sprudge.3
The coffee comes from Cuervo, the roastery of Pablo Tokatlian and Agustín Caro, which also supplies other cafés wholesale.3 Cuervo runs six bars of its own in the city, so the same roast is easy to compare elsewhere.3
Padre Coffee Roasters comes from a coffee family. Caras reported in 2019 that the family of its founder, Juan Martín Otero, had imported, roasted and sold beans for three generations and over 50 years under the Roca Mora brand.5 It opened in August 2017 on Jorge Luis Borges, in a former butcher’s and greengrocer’s, on the idea of coffee by day and craft beer by night.6
In 2019 that café kept an off-menu unicorn latte with vegetable-dyed foam, ordered by saying the keyword.6 At Honduras 4096, Maricafé describes itself as an LGBT café bar, and it opens daily from 09:00 to 21:00.7
La Fonte D'Oro is the outsider: a Mar del Plata chain founded in 1966 on the concept of serving the best coffee it could, now with branches in the capital as well.2 Its address here, Charcas 3601, has sidewalk tables, and the chain runs a loyalty club and sells coffee through its online shop.2
For a table with Wi-Fi, Fulgor Café (Avenida del Libertador 3598) adds outdoor seating and Hora Libre (Güemes 3827) is smoke-free. Lazy Dog, on Gascón, also offers Wi-Fi. Totem (Cabello 3266) has vegan options, air-conditioning and tables outside.

Birkin is on República Árabe Siria, one of the streets bordering the garden, and opens until 21:00 from Tuesday to Sunday. Confitería del Botánico, at Santa Fe 3799, opens daily from 07:00 to 22:00 and has tables both inside and out.
Lharmonie, opened by Melanie Jafif and Martin Masri in 2021, serves coffee from Cuervo, the Buenos Aires roastery of Pablo Tokatlian and Agustín Caro. By November 2025 it had four locations, including addresses on Juan Francisco Seguí and Avenida del Libertador.
Padre Coffee Roasters was founded by Juan Martín Otero, whose family had imported, roasted and sold coffee for more than 50 years under the Roca Mora brand. It opened in August 2017 on Jorge Luis Borges with a coffee-by-day, craft-beer-by-night idea.
