Cafés open late in Riga

Cafés that run until 22:00 or later cluster in the City Centre, just ahead of the Old Town, with Teika & Purvciems third. Several are tējnīcas (tearooms) rather than coffee bars, and one, on Mārstaļu iela, doubles as a bar and music venue until dawn.

From 9 May to 27 September 2026, seven night bus routes ran on Friday-to-Saturday and Saturday-to-Sunday nights, most of them leaving the center at 00:00, 01:00, 02:00, 03:00 and 04:00. The N22 runs every night between the center and the airport.1

Local tip: Lungo on Stirnu iela 4 serves until 02:00 on Friday and Saturday nights; in the 2026 night-bus season, May to late September, the N1 night bus links Teika with the center hourly until 04:00.

Old Town after 22:00

Latvijas pirmā rokkafejnīca (Latvia's first rock café) fills a 17th-century merchant's house on Mārstaļu iela 2/4 and mixes restaurant, bar and club, with live music several times a week.2 It stays open until 06:00 on Sunday to Wednesday nights and until 08:00 from Thursday to Saturday.

Strada, on Jāņa iela 5, opens daily 11:00–23:00; a 2025 review found many single-origin coffees on its pour-over bar and covered street seating outside.3 Parunāsim on Mazā Pils iela 4 and Golden Coffee on Kaļķu iela 2 run until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

V. Ķuzes kafejnīca, on Jēkaba iela 20/22, opens daily 10:00–22:00 and carries the name of Vilhelms Ķuze, who opened a bakery-confectionery on Avotu iela in 1910; by 1936 his firm made about 5,000 kg of sweets a day, and it was nationalized after June 1940.4

Tea after dark

Runa Tearoom, on Zirgu iela 3, and Illuseum Tea Room, on Miera iela 19, both open daily 12:00–22:00. Illuseum pours Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese teas and lends gongfu brewing sets for the Chinese and Taiwanese leaves.5

Tējo, at Krišjāņa Barona iela 2A, closes at 22:00 every day and runs tea ceremonies, tastings and masterclasses.6 Tabu, at Tērbatas iela 2G, opens at noon and stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tērbatas, Blaumaņa and Čaka iela

La Kanna, on Tērbatas iela 5, runs until 23:00 from Thursday to Saturday. Caffiano, at Blaumaņa iela 27, stays open until 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and Ziedonis, at Aleksandra Čaka iela 100, until midnight. UniCon, at Čaka iela 58, keeps a daily 14:00–23:00. Osīriss, at Krišjāņa Barona iela 31, closes at 22:00 from Thursday to Saturday and sets out a summer terrace.7

In the Quiet Centre, A.L.L. Cappuccino on Antonijas iela 11 opens daily 08:00–23:00, and Buberts on Dzirnavu iela 15 closes at 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Kafija • Ātrās uzkodas, at Prāgas iela 1, opens at 07:00 and runs until 23:00 on weekdays.

Teika, Purvciems and the left bank

Lungo, on Stirnu iela 4 in Teika, stays open until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Džuljeta, at Dārzciema iela 1, and Varde, at Varžu iela 4, both close at 23:00 daily. In season, the N1 night bus ran through Teika, the N6 through Purvciems and Dārzciems, and the N4 through Imanta, Zolitūde and Āgenskalns.1

On the left bank, Tu Re Kā on Slokas iela 76 and This place doesn't need a name on Pededzes iela 1A run until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and Spilve, at Spilves iela 11, closes at 22:00.
