A terraza in Seville is a set of veladores, tables and chairs a bar or café puts out on the pavement or a square. About 1,300 businesses in the city had terraces at the end of 2023, and a draft ordinance given initial approval by the city government in June 2024 required them to leave at least 1.8 meters of pavement clear for people on foot.2

The weather decides when they are pleasant. At Seville airport the average high is 36.0 °C in July and 35.5 °C in August, against 21.9 °C in March and 26.0 °C in October.1 Spring and autumn are the terrace months; in high summer, the time for an outdoor table is early morning or after dark.

Local tip: From June to September, sit outside before 11:00 or after dark and ask for the shady side: the average July high at the airport is 36.0 °C.

Where these cafés are: Centro (11), Alameda de Hércules (8), Nervión (6), El Arenal (3), Triana (2), Macarena (2), Santa Cruz (1), La Cartuja (1).

The Alameda de Hércules and Calle Peris Mencheta

The Alameda de Hércules has the highest share of cafés with outdoor tables, more than a quarter of those around it. On the boulevard, Casa Paco is at number 7 and El Viajero Sedentario at number 77; the latter has books to browse, a small room inside, seats outdoors and concerts and book signings on some nights.6

One street east, Calle Peris Mencheta has three: Feria 83 and Quilombo share number 6, and Veneranda Café is at 42. Mehl on Calle Correduría adds brunch, El Tio del Saco is on Calle Relator, and Parcería on Calle Calderón de la Barca has a small terrace that gets the mid-morning sun.7

Squares in Centro: Alfalfa, Encarnación and Gavidia

Centro has the most terrace cafés by number. Love Horno Artesano sets its tables on the Plaza de la Alfalfa and opens at 08:00 every day, Square Coffee Cake & Food is on the Plaza de la Encarnación, under Las Setas, and El Sanedrine is on the Plaza de la Gavidia, with Gavidia close by on Calle Baños.

For a late table, Mi Lugar Favorito on Calle Regina serves until 00:00 daily, while Ringo Banana on Calle Alhóndiga keeps 09:00–19:00. Smaller places sit along the shopping streets: Catalina on Calle Zaragoza, La Mina on Cuesta del Rosario, Le Petit Café on Calle San Eloy and Pura Vida on Calle Villegas.

Nervión, Santa Cruz and across the river

Nervión ranks third. ALFONSITO Brunch Cafe at Puerta de Carmona opens 08:00–20:30 every day, Café Bar Palomo on Calle Recaredo starts at 07:30 on weekdays, and Café Nervión is on Avenida Luis de Morales. Near the cathedral, Gusto on Calle Alemanes has outdoor tables and opens 08:30–23:30.

In El Arenal, D'oro is on Calle Adriano and Heladería Cristina on Calle Almirante Lobo. Triana has El Horno de Triana on Calle San Vicente de Paúl and Pisano on the Plaza Pedro Santos Gómez, and in La Cartuja, La bola on Calle Marie Curie opens at 07:00 on weekdays.

Shade, closing times and what a terrace coffee costs

Shade is a civic question here. Toldos, fabric awnings, went up over the Avenida de la Constitución in August 2025; the avenue lost them in 2026 after the city ended its contract with the operator, and in August 2026 the planning office opened a public consultation on shading more streets.3 The 2024 draft set terrace closing at 01:00, an hour later on Fridays, holidays, Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril, and midnight in acoustically saturated zones.2

Location shows on the bill. In May 2024, three coffees at a restaurant in the Parque de María Luisa cost €2.80 each, while one Triana resident reported paying under €3 for a coffee with milk and a breakfast roll.4 In April 2025 a small black coffee and ham toast with olive oil at a bar beside the cathedral came to €8.50, against about €5 for the same breakfast in most of Andalusia.5
