Arnavutköy, "Albanian village", is known for wooden Ottoman mansions and the coast road around Akıntıburnu, the cape where the current once ran so hard that small boats had to be towed.1 Bebek, the next bay north, keeps the Khedive Mansion of 1899–1901, now Egypt's consulate.2 The walk between the two takes about 20 minutes, or about 5 by bus when traffic allows.3

People come here for a long breakfast and the water more than for the roast. Cafés line Cevdetpaşa Caddesi in Bebek and Bebek Arnavutköy Caddesi along the shore, with quieter rooms in Arnavutköy's back streets, and prices follow the view.

Local tip: Walk the shore from Arnavutköy to Bebek after breakfast rather than taking the bus; it's only about 20 minutes, and the bus can get stuck in coast-road traffic.3

Coffee on Cevdetpaşa Caddesi

Cup of Joy began in Bebek in a 14 m² shop, as Time Out recalled in 2022 when it reviewed a much larger branch on Bağdat Caddesi, and its menu runs to gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan items.4 The Bebek original is still on Cevdetpaşa and opens at 07:00.

Healthyish Cafe, a few doors along at No. 24/B, opened in 2018 where Happily Ever After used to be. Owner Şeyma Subaşı, an Instagram personality, has the menu, acai bowls included, prepared under a nutritionist.5 The room at the back faces the Bosphorus, and in 2018 the balcony seated so few that you might queue for it.5

Patio Bebek, on the same street, has Wi-Fi and outdoor seats and stays open until 02:00, later than almost anything else in Bebek.

Breakfast across from Bebek Park

Time Out's breakfast shortlist of January 2019 put Grandpa Coffee & Eatery on İnşirah Sokağı, opposite Bebek Park, for regional cheeses such as Erzincan tulumu and aged Anatolian kaşar, smoked meats and homemade leavened bread.6 Yemek.com adds espresso, flat whites, iced tea and smoothies.3

Hidden House - Bebek, in the Yeniyol Çıkmazı cul-de-sac, made the same list for a shared spread for two with olive oil zahter, Bozcaada jams, Elazığ honeycomb and churned butter.6

Expect to pay for the address. In September 2025 Ekonomi Gazetesi found Momo Bebeköy charging from ₺146 for an Americano and up to ₺192 for an iced latte, against ₺115 and ₺145 at a café in Fatih.7

Arnavutköy's back streets

Hide Arnavutkoy sits in a private garden on Arnavutköy Dere Sokağı, with fresh bakes and freshly ground coffee; the owners pitch it as a place to see friends, rest or concentrate on work, with birdsong in the background.8

Kavanoz, on Tekkeci Sokak, is the neighborhood's egg specialist. Time Out suggests going as a group and sharing minced-meat eggs, menemen (eggs scrambled with tomato and pepper) and scrambled eggs, or a shakshuka with olives and rocket.6 Yemek.com rates its sourdough open-faced plates.3 It runs past midnight, with Wi-Fi and outdoor tables.

Wuufbox Cafe, on the shore road, has Wi-Fi and outdoor seats until 22:00, and Doorstep shares Tekkeci Sokak with Kavanoz.
