District 4 is a triangular island of about 4.18 km², the smallest of the old urban districts: the Saigon River on the northeast, the Bến Nghé channel facing District 1, and the Tẻ canal to the south.1 The Saigon Port is here, and towers such as Rivergate Residence and Icon 56 have gone up in the past decade.1 Since the 2025 reorganization it has been three wards, Vĩnh Hội, Khánh Hội and Xóm Chiếu, names that go back to the five wards it had before 1985.12
Some 199,000 people lived on it in 2022.1 Bến Vân Đồn, the road along the channel, has far more cafés than any other street here, and a few more trade from apartment-block units. Drinks at the small rooms started around 24,000₫ in March 2025.3
Local tip: Eat on Vĩnh Khánh first, then take the upper floor at Gentlemens Coffee on Vĩnh Hội, where attendants park your motorbike.3

Lala Coffee & Tea has indoor and outdoor areas with many trees and plenty of photo spots, and its menu leans to juices, smoothies and yogurt instead of strong coffee.3 It is at number 237 on the road.3 Nap, further along, is a bakery café that opens at 06:30, and Cà Phê Trần is smoke-free with Wi-Fi. Inland, Hay Day Coffee is at 105B Xóm Chiếu, the ward Vietcetera singles out for affordable housing.2
Cà Phê Sài Gòn Xưa 277, at that number on Khánh Hội, fills its room with vintage objects and images of old Saigon, and its drinks are not overly sweet.3 Cà Phê Ngọt at 1 Đường Số 7 has warm yellow tones and a similar nostalgia, with acoustic guitar and singing in the evenings; drinks cost 24,000–30,000₫ in March 2025.3
Relax Garden cafe at 202 Đường Số 48 sits beside a park and pours traditional robust coffee with no whipped toppings, with attentive staff and reasonable prices.3 Fein Kafe on Đường số 10C has outdoor seats and takes cards.
The Yuson Tea and Coffee at 273B Tôn Đản has large round tables that suit a group, plus cakes, and its drinks are moderately sweet and somewhat expensive for the area.3 Ssense Coffee, in the Tôn Thất Thuyết apartment block, keeps a white, minimalist room and says it uses no food coloring or blended additives.3 Thương Rooftop, at 258, is on the same stretch of Tôn Đản. For an earlier start in the Vĩnh Hội blocks, CAFECUB in Lô C opens at 06:00, with outdoor seats, Wi-Fi and bubble tea.
Vĩnh Khánh, the district's food street, is known for cheap snails, seafood, hotpot and grilled dishes, along with bún thịt nướng (grilled pork over rice noodles).24 When you are done, Gentlemens Coffee at 2a Vĩnh Hội offers a wood-toned room with greenery, an upper floor facing the street, eco-friendly glassware and attendants to look after your motorbike.3
