These two old districts fill the west side of the city. Tân Phú was split from Tân Bình late in 2003.1 Since July 2025 it has been the wards of Tây Thạnh, Tân Sơn Nhì, Phú Thọ Hòa, Phú Thạnh and Tân Phú, and old Bình Tân next door has been Bình Tân, Bình Hưng Hòa, Bình Trị Đông, An Lạc and Tân Tạo.2

Coffee is cheap and practical here, with phin (the Vietnamese metal drip filter) pours as low as 15,000₫ in 2025.3 What sets the area apart is water: cafés that build their seating around koi ponds, with a few shops that sell their own roasted beans on the side.

Local tip: Save Wing Coffee & Bunny for the afternoon: it opens at 13:00, later than most of the area.6

Koi ponds on Lê Trọng Tấn and Đường Số 7

Koi Melody Coffee at 384 Lê Trọng Tấn covers hundreds of square meters, with seats sunk halfway into the water, and you can feed the fish.4

Gate 7 Coffee Roastery at 162A Nguyễn Trường Tộ, in Phú Thọ Hòa, brews its phin from 100% robusta and its machine espresso from Vietnamese arabica, and its menu also runs to teas, smoothies and juices.5

Over in Bình Tân, Swebi Coffee on Tên Lửa sells roasted whole beans as well as phin, in a clean modern room with big windows, at 35,000–60,000₫ in May 2025.3 Phoenix Café Khu Tên lửa works from its own roasting formula for phin and was the cheapest of the local roundup in May 2025, at 15,000–35,000₫.3

Gardens, rabbits and warm light in Tân Phú

CAO's Café on Kênh Tân Hóa is a big garden with a menu stretching from traditional coffee to cocktails; the avocado smoothie is the recommendation, and drinks cost 30,000–70,000₫ in May 2025.6

Wing Coffee & Bunny at 34 Lê Lư is a small pet-themed café, known for its matcha latte, at 30,000–60,000₫ in May 2025, and it does not open until 13:00.6 Hannie coffee at 227 Lê Niệm uses warm lighting and comfortable corners for dates and group work, at 45,000–90,000₫, though it can get noisy at peak hours.6

Early starts and all-night tables

Ciao Kafé, on Đường số 32 in Bình Tân, was opening at 06:30 in May 2025, with outdoor seats and an air-conditioned room, and gives a free iced tea with each drink; black coffee, bạc xỉu, salted cream coffee and Americano make up the core of a 30,000–50,000₫ menu.3
