West of the center, Osaka starts to break up around water. Kujō has its covered arcades, the Yoshino and Noda blocks of Fukushima ward lie to the north, Bentenchō faces the bay, and Taishō is surrounded by canals and rivers, with so few pedestrian bridges that the city runs ferries across.6

Several of the cafés here roast their own beans. Cafe Bahnhof has been at it in Fukushima ward since 2003, and a coffee stand in Kujō gives you six roast levels to pick from.21 Taishō has its own flavor: one in four residents have roots in Okinawa, and many of the ward's shops and restaurants reflect that.6

Local tip: Taishō has few pedestrian bridges, and the city runs ferries across its waterways, so check the crossing before you plan a walk between Taishō and the neighboring wards.6
