Chatuchak Weekend Market and Or Tor Kor

The market moved here from Sanam Luang and Sanam Chai, with all its merchants in place by 1983. It was called Phahonyothin Market until 1987 and now has more than 15,000 stalls in 27 sections.² As of January 2025 it opens Friday 18:00 to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00–18:00.³

Coffee inside is mostly carts and kiosks. Look in Section 2 and on the avenues toward the Clock Tower for the fresh orange juice americano, Thai orange juice topped with cold brew or espresso.⁴ Brio Bistro and Bar, in Section 2, sold coffee from 80฿ as of January 2025.³ The Breakfast Club BKK also trades in the market, and Wantong Cafe is at 100 Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road.

Across Kamphaeng Phet Road, Or Tor Kor Market has been selling produce and prepared food since 1974, and is known for premium durian and mango.⁶ Kaarom Speciality Coffee is on the first floor of the Mixt Chatuchak building on Kamphaeng Phet 3 Road.

Stations and the Phahonyothin cafés

MRT Kamphaeng Phet serves the market's western end, and Chatuchak Park and BTS Mo Chit its eastern end.² North of Mo Chit, the BTS follows Phahonyothin Road through Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, Ratchayothin and Sena Nikhom to Kasetsart University, while the MRT Yellow Line starts at Lat Phrao.¹

Behind The Bar, at 1058/104 Phahonyothin Road, keeps early hours near the market: 06:30 on weekdays and 07:30 at weekends, closing at 15:30. The Elements Coffee Roasters is at 1964 Phahonyothin, and Red Diamond has a branch in Central Plaza Lat Phrao at number 1693.

Slow bars off Lat Phrao and Vibhavadi Rangsit

Blackhills BKK, at 302 Lat Phrao Soi 1, Lane 2, near the five-way junction, makes every cup by hand, by drip, AeroPress, moka pot or siphon, with a bar counter for talking to the barista; cups started at 100฿ as of 2022.⁸ Butch's Coffee, on Vibhavadi Rangsit Soi 5, roasts its own beans, mostly single origin, with drip from 80฿ that same year.⁸

The numbered sois off Vibhavadi Rangsit hold more. do drip coffee on Soi 16/28 opens Wednesday to Sunday, 07:30–17:00, mama café on Soi 16 runs weekdays from 07:30 and weekends from 09:00, Ontheroast is on Soi 22, and Coffee lab café by nhoii on Soi 38.

Ratchadaphisek 36, Chok Chai 4 and Wang Hin

Ratchadaphisek Soi 36 is a maze of numbered branches with a café in many of them. BAR BURRER "Slow bar" at 372, deep in Yaek 9-3-4, opens daily 09:00–21:00, and Verse Craft Coffee and tubha.craftcoffee are in other lanes off the same soi. Sonata Specialty Coffee is at 37 Ratchadaphisek 32 Yaek 1.

Chok Chai 4 Road runs parallel to the east. Bluetamp academy & roastery is at 75/7 Soi 54, White Hart Café & Bakery at 586, and BB Kafe & Dog Fitness, on Soi 84, opens at 06:30 on weekdays and stays open until 22:00. Between the two, Hacking Coffee Roasters is at 4 Lat Phrao Wang Hin Road and Unfinished Coffee Roaster on Wang Hin Soi 46. Surround Specialty Coffee & Chocolate Bar is at 41/4 Lat Phrao 48, and 28ml Specialty Coffee and Tea Bar in Union Mall.
